My sweet boys, and their thoughtful Daddy, got me an ice cream maker for Mother’s Day! Finally, after all these years of making ice cream in the freezer, I got the ice cream maker I have dreamed of. It’s nothing fancy. It makes ice cream the “old fashion way” as my twins like to say.
If it isn’t connected with a computer, that’s the category everything falls into. It’s one that you have to look all over town to find the rock salt because the place it was bought, doesn’t carry it. I love it and picture great times, sitting outside with my boys, waiting for the sweet outcome of the humming machine.
I had to go to Publix to find rock salt and bought 3 boxes just so I’ll have it should there be a shortage this summer. It could happen, ya know. I would have to get the kosher salt out and try, if it did.
I decided to make Vanilla Ice Cream first. Versatile and goes with whatever you want to top it with. Besides, vanilla is one of the twins’ favorite flavor and everything I make seems to contain chocolate in some fashion. Get ready for an explosion of ice cream recipes and anything related. Oh, I also got a snow cone maker.
The one is definitely in the “old fashion way” category, you have to turn the handle on top to make the snow.
