I found out that cake and pie filling make a wonderful fast dessert! Numerous recipes have been around for a gazillion years doing this. Where have I been? I’m just glad I finally decided to make this!
Get that box of cake mix out along with the can of pie filling and make these yummy pie bars. I’ve added vanilla chips as an option. They are good, however, there was too much vanilla for me. If you love vanilla, then, by all means, add the chips!. Here is your slice, right out of the oven.
Vanilla Cherry Pie Bars
- 1 box vanilla cake mix, I used tradional
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 Tablespoon coconut oil, or oil
- 1 to 2 cans cherry pie filling,
- (you could add part, or all, of the second can)
- 1/2 to 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup vanilla chips, optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray, Homemade Cake Release, 11×8 or 8×8 pan. Beat egg with milk and oil. Stir in cake mix. It is very thick and sticky. Spray the back of a spoon and spread cake batter in greased pan with spoon. Top vanilla chips then with pie filling. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until done, middle may still be a little moist. Take out and top with coconut. You can add the coconut at the beginning of cooking, if you wish. Enjoy!
