Chocolate Chip Bars made with a Cake Mix

I have to say, baking is my favorite part of cooking.  Whether it’s from scratch or semi-homemade, I’m loving it. That is why you will find so many desserts on my blog. Don’t get me wrong, I do love to cook meals…..just not as much..  Smiles are always plentiful when my boys smell something baking in the oven. These Chocolate Chip Bars are no exception.

They are so easy to make…which I definitely love, with the help of a boxed cake mix.

Are they a thick chocolate chip cookie bar.  A dense cake.  A brownie!  Whatever you consider them…you can definitely consider them…gone!

Chocolate Chip Bars made with a Cake Mix
ingredients

15.25 oz box yellow cake mix, I used Betty Crocker
1/2 cup margarine, I always use I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter
1/2 cup dark brown sugar, homemade
2 eggs
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 to 2 cups Nestles Dark or Semi Sweet Cocolate Chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Spray 9 x 13 pan with non-stick spray.  Line with parchment paper, optional.  Cream margarine and brown sugar together..  Beat in eggs.  Followed by cake mix, vanilla and water, beating just until incorporated.  Stir in chocolate chips.  Spread in prepared pan.  Cook in preheated oven 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean and slightly soft to touch.  Do not overcook.  Cool on rack in pan.  Enjoy!
